My Words

Wide open
Your face is soft
Your shoulders are heavy
You are safe
Your baby is safe
This is your power
You are strong
Feel your cervix melt like butter
Your muscles open
Your baby tucks chin on chest
You are wide open
Slow breathing
Your hands are soft
You are safe
You are with all the women in labour
The women are with you
You are doing this
Breathe in strength
Breathe out worry
Breathe in power
This is your power
Wide open
Wide open

- Jacquie Munro, Vancouver Doula - Slow Birth

Such beautiful words that all took me back to my birth experiences. Your words carried me through and gave me strength, focus, and grounded me in the moment. You drew my attention to my power. Thank you.

Your blog is one of the most wonderful things I have ever read. Your words helped me trust myself as I prepared to have my third child. I was terrified and I began to listen to my body after finding your blog - it was a gift after two deliveries with far too much intervention and stress. I felt asthough I failed the first two times, but with my last child, I was able to own the experience and feel so proud of it. Thank you, for showing me and so many others, a more empowering path to birthing.
