Pauline's Words

We had a beautiful nurse for the birth yesterday.

Pauline, originally from Togo, is a mother of five, and a grandmother of two. Her last child was born on her own bed, birthed into her own hands. She birthed this baby on her own, with joy.

Our time with Pauline was magical. She spoke to us like she was taking us on a spiritual journey. She spoke low and slow, rolling her R's. Her words were like poetry...or a prayer...

As she was speaking, I copied her words onto paper...hear her...

The woman's body is so unique

It is well made.

Birth
the body knows this story
I don't write this story

That's how it is.

I will hold you in my heart all the time

I speak to your baby in my tongue

Your baby speaks my language

That's how it is.

Baby Zoe came into this world with grace, full of life. That's how it is.

Jacquie,

I have been reading your blog since I discovered it a few months ago and I have to say that your writing about these momentous moments invariably bring tears to my eyes and a song to my heart. The feeling of your writng evokes the same feelings in me that my dearest Love Associate's hands do when he pets my back and neck...Languid, Warm, Liquid Milk Chocolate :)

I am 7 months pregnant with my second baby, my first is 13 years old now so it is much like being a first time mommy! I too am intending to have a SLOW birth...Thank you for showing it is possible and most of all...Thank you for being you.

A multitude of Blessings in Spirit to you and yours.

Pretty cool blog you've got here. Thanx for it. I like such themes and everything connected to this matter. I would like to read a bit more on that blog soon.

Truly yours

Come back to the blog-word Jacquie! Your adoring public are lost without you. I hope you are taking good care of your heart and soul while you are on hiatus. Best wishes for your return to Slow Birth.
